Northwind Office Business Application Updated for Visual Studio, Office & SharePoint 2010

Last year we built a business application for order management for Northwind Traders on the Office and SharePoint platform using Visual Studio 2008 and Office & SharePoint 2007. Recently I started releasing articles that show how to upgrade the VS2008 version to VS2010: Migrating an Outlook Client to .NET Framework 4 in Visual Studio 2010 Build WPF Data Controls for Outlook Addins Easily with VS2010 Migrating a 2007 Workflow to Visual Studio & SharePoint 2010 Today I updated the sample with some more goodies including some SharePoint 2010 web parts that I’ll write about soon

Access 2010 deprecated features and components

Excel VBA Cells and Hyperlinks

I track some information in Excel, and one of the columns is for a link to some location (blogs, Web sites, etc.). One of the things is that I don’t want the URL to appear as it creates display issues (as shown here). I really want it to look like this: I prefer to just display the word “Link” that is marked up with the actual link.

I’m really happy to announce the 4 th CTP for the Open XML SDK 2.0 for Microsoft Office ! There were four major improvements we made to the SDK: Full support for the Office 2010 Open XML formats Office 2010 schema and semantic level validation General improvements based on a recent Open XML SDK usability study Open XML SDK tools improvement Full Support for the Office 2010 Open XML Formats With the latest CTP you are able to create, edit, and consume Office generated Open XML formats for either Office 2007 or Office 2010.

New Learning Resources on the VSTO Developer Center (Beth Massi)

Last week we revamped the Learn pages on the VSTO Developer Center with more content that allows you to pivot on more fine-grained topics and tasks under each type of Office solution. We’ve changed the layout of these pages so that you can browse for a type of solution (right now we have Excel , Word , Outlook and Deployment ) and then you can drill down into the specific topics to reveal articles and videos underneath. As you select a topic on the left, the content changes on the right so check it out
